Glue-Down Installation Over the Existing Wood Floor
The existing wood floor was not removed. The new engineered wood was installed directly over it using a glue-down method, bonding each plank to the floor already in place rather than floating it. On this project, no additional door, transition or molding adjustments were required.
Installing over an existing floor is not the right answer for every home. Whether it can be done depends on the condition, structure, flatness and moisture level of the floor already in place, and on the material going over it. Those conditions have to be assessed in person before anyone can say it is an option.
